If you’re mathing at home, O’Connell’s new Commercial Character Voice demo actually took 18 years to produce — because that was the last time Peter produced a character voiceover demo.

O’Connell noted that aside from being constantly hired for character voice acting jobs from his (now) old character demo, he just couldn’t decide which new segments to add to a new demo. He blogged about the reasons for the lengthy demo production timeline HERE.

Finally, just a few Saturday’s ago, Peter did a deep dive into the archive of ALL the character stuff he had voiced. Sensing a good demo direction from what he heard, he felt a great confidence as he begin assembling, writing, voicing, editing and mixing the new character demo.

The result of his efforts, in consultation with some of his esteemed voice acting friends, is what you hear today as his new voice acting demo.

During his decades long voice acting career, O’Connell has served as the primary voice talent for hundreds of brands (no, he’s never actually counted them) including Crest Toothpaste, L.L.Bean, Duracell, T-Mobile, Blue Cross Blue Shield…well there’s a lot, you get the point.

This latest commercial demo includes great examples of Peter’s exemplary vocal versatility for commercial voice work, including his frequently broadcast work for on the very fun project for iHeart Media’s “Ridiculous History Podcast”.

“It’s exciting, stressful and nerve-wracking producing a new commercial demo,” O’Connell said. “While I have produced many, you still are never sure as you go through the process whether you are hitting the right notes for producers. But the feedback on this demo has been amazing. It’s gratifying that so many producers and casting agents like this new demo,” O’Connell noted.

Andy has been acting since he was a kid (and by some accounts he still is a kid). Some voice actors claim versatility, but Andy embodies it. His natural conversational voice is friendly, laid back, just like your buddy from college or your next door neighbor. More than one client has suggested he kind of sounds like Jon Hamm at times. But don’t let that fool you, Andy also has the vocal gravitas to do everything from a younger sound to a deep masculine blue-collar Midwesterner, from a straight announcer to an international neutral accent, and last but not least, a variety of character voices. Just don’t ask him to sing or dance (the poor guy can’t carry a note, and his coordination is rather cringeworthy).
