What's New Peter K. O'Connell MVO The Voiceover GuysWhat’s New With PETER K. O’CONNELL May 2023 is part of a series in which MVO: The Voice-Over Guys checks-in with one of our male voiceover talents to learn more about a recent media project he has voiced. Here’s what Peter shared with us.

Q. You mentioned a really cool voiceover project in your recent MVO: The Voiceover Guys update. Can you talk about who the project was for and where it was heard or seen?

Peter K. O'Connell MVO: The Voiceover Guys August 23A: I was asked to be the English language narrator of a corporate for industrial video highlighting the agricultural solutions offer by SpeedAgro, based in Argentina.

Q. What made the media production’s content especially interesting from your perspective?

A: I’ve been blessed to have many repeat clients and one of my favorite’s in South America reached out to me about this project. What I find interesting about working on projects for clients outside the United States is how, in some ways, their marketing messages are different than here and how they are the same in some ways. Obviously, as with all successful marketing, you’ve got to understand the needs and expectations of your audience…which I think SpeedArgo and they production team did well in this case.

Q. As the voice talent in your media project, were there any kinds of special ways you prepared for your voiceover performance? Or anything unique you had to execute from a technical standpoint?

A: On a project like this where we are working with two different primary languages (English in the US and Spanish in Argentina), I want to be super respectful of the script and translations. Most times the translations are very clear (like on this job – it was perfect) but sometimes there are questions.

Peter K. O'Connell audioconnell Voiceover Talent Voiceover BoothThe good thing about having worked with my South American production partners many times before is that we have really great communications on all aspects of the project – so if I have a question or see a possible issue, they want me to let them know. I of course welcome all the questions and directions they have for me as well — they are the client after all!

But the production teams know I only want to help them avoid having to re-record later. So we sort have an unwritten rule: if you see something, say something.

Q. Briefly, are there any other recent voiceover projects you’ve done that you want to share with us?

A: I’ve recorded some voiceover for a national retailer’s new national radio campaign that’s about to come out. I’ll share more on that when I can. But I also always doing local and regional spots and narrations. I’m very fortunate that way and always love working with new clients of every size!

ABOUT PETER K. O’CONNELL
IT WAS 1969 and I was in kindergarten.

Our saintly teacher, Sister Donna Marie, took our class on a trip to WEBR-AM in Buffalo, NY.

The minute I walked into that radio station control room…BOOM!

Everything changed for me. Everything.

I knew instantly my life would always include a microphone.

From securing my high school’s first-ever broadcasting internship to hosting Dayton, Ohio’s #1 rated Saturday night request show on a 50,000-watt FM station while only in college, I’ve been behind a microphone almost ever since.

My audio production and voiceover work evolved into my voiceover production company, audio’connell Voiceover Talent.

There, I voice commercials, narrations and broadcast promos for clients like Amazon (AWS), Crest Toothpaste, iHeart Radio and Duracell Batteries.

In 2016, we O’Connells packed up our Conestoga wagon and ventured from our longtime home in Buffalo, NY to Raleigh, NC (near Research Triangle Park), where my Source-Connect equipped, professional recording studio serves media producers world-wide.
