MVO: The Voice-Over Guys’ likes to check-in with our male voice talents and today we talk with JAMES CLAMP about a recent voiceover project he voiced.
1. Can you tell us about a recent voiceover project you’ve recently enjoyed working on? Who was it for?
Sure, I did a Corporate promo spot recently for Nick Jr. It was an international brand Licensing video for Spongebob Squarepants filled with lots of foreign speaking Spongebob’s (Spongebob sounds very different in Portuguese and Greek!)
2. What was the project all about?
It’s basically a promo destined for TV stations outside of the USA letting them know why they should be partnering up with Spongebob Squarepants – one reason being he’s “got more Facebook friends than the Beatles”!
3. How did the project come to you? Agent? Website? Past client?
An agent of mine in NY, Buchwald, sent me the booking and when I read through the script, I knew the session was going to be great fun. The client is actually based in LA and we recorded over phone patch. I’ve worked with the client before over the years on various cartoon promo’s.
4. What was the most interesting or enjoyable part of this project for you?
Rather than the usual corporate video style, this one had to be all Spongebob’d….silly voices, silly script, huge amounts of energy, over the top to out-and-out manic delivery, very fast paced, all over in 60 seconds. We all kept bursting into laughter during the recording. Good times!
