IF A VOICE talent as widely known and respected as Randy Thomas hosts a voice-over workshop, you are almost certain to find at least one of The Voice-Over Guys in attendance. Or, on this occasion, two of The Voice-Over Guys.
So when Randy held her first ever Voice-Over Mastery Event in her hometown of Ft. Meyers, Florida, Dan Friedman and Peter K. O’Connell from MVO: The Voice-Over Guys secured their spots at this exclusive event.
Should you not know her name, you certainly know Randy’s famous voice.
Randy Thomas made history as the first woman to announce The Academy Awards©, The Emmy Awards©, The SAG Awards©, The AFI Awards©, to name a few. As the seven-time announcer of The Oscars©, and fourteen-time Tony© announcer, Thomas has been winning accolades and opening doors for female voice artists for over 20 years. For the past nine years she’s been heard daily by millions of people as the iconic voice of CBS Television Distribution’s “Entertainment Tonight©,” one of the most watched entertainment programs in the world.
Randy wasn’t the only remarkable national voice-over talent who was willing to share some pretty amazing VO business and performance insights during the weekend seminar.
Joe Cipriano was a presenter at Randy’s Voiceover Mastery seminar as well. Joe has been the original and best known “Voice” of FOX for over 25 years and has been one of the Signature Voices at CBS for over 16 years. He has served as the voice of NBC Dramas and has served the live voice for the annual Emmy© Awards numerous times.
Also presenting was the triple threat (actress / singer / voice-over actress) Melissa Disney. Not only was Melissa the first woman to serve as the voice talent for a major motion picture trailer but as also served as a live announcer for The Oscars© in addition to her significant commercial and animation work (including the starring role in the series “As Told By Ginger”).
If you’ve heard any of the promos on the MLB Network, you’ve heard the great voice-over work of Chris Corley, who also presented at the seminar. While also being heard on the FOX Network, Chris has served as the movie trailer voice for films including Burlesque (Sony Pictures), Last Chance Harvey (Overture Films) and Enchanted (Disney).
Dan’s and Peter’s compadres from Edge Studio and the ever-energetic voice talent Anne Ganguzza rounded a pretty jam packed weekend of voice-over madness (in a good way).
All of the presenters were extraordinarily generous with their time and insights to not only the whole group but also individually to the voice-over pros that attended the event.
Shout outs to many of our voice-over peers and friends who were in attendance during the weekend including Doug Turkel, Caryn Clark, Jaye Delai, Faith Coons, Jackie Bales, Simone Fojgiel, Mike Elmore, Jeffrey Umberger and so many other new friends that Peter and Dan had the chance to meet! Thank you all!
